Last week in class we were introduced to WebQuests. When I was watching the online lecture I was still not too sure if I really understood completely what a Webquest was. Then we did a little exploring in class and I have done some exploring on my own on Webquest.org. I have come to the conclusion that it is not a bad idea for a classroom project. Our professor told us that Webquests was not his favorite thing to do and that there were better ways of making websites. Since I am not familiar with them I have nothing to compare it to but I do like this idea of a Webquest. I am doing mine as part of a 4th grade Social Studies lesson so that the students can find out information about NY. I think it would be a fun way for them to learn about the state they live in. I am observing in a fourth grade class at Harris Hill this semester and learning about NY is part of their curriculum. The teacher in that particular class, has the children write a paragraph on NY every week but I think that children would find a Webquest more engaging and fun. I think it is a very useful technology tool for a classroom and I can see myself actually using Webquests or maybe another type of website based activity resource. Does any one have any other website tools you think are better then Webquest to use in a classroom?
